How Companions keep you safe

QSI — Quantum Synthetic Intelligence

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Need to talk to someone now? Tele‑MANAS is free and open 24x7, and you can often talk in your own language. If you’re in danger right now, call 112.

What they are

Companions are AI characters made by QSI. Each companion is labelled “AI character” on screen and always says it is an AI when asked. They’re not people and not professionals.

Who can use them

Logged-in members in India aged 18 or older. Before you first use Companions, QSI shows you what it processes and asks you to agree, and keeps a record of your answer (see our Privacy Policy). If you tell a companion you’re under 18, it first gives helplines if you may be in danger, then companions are switched off for your account. If something you say only suggests it (for example school or board exams), QSI first asks whether you are 18 or older; if you answer No, companions are switched off. This isn’t a penalty: your other QSI chats work as usual. You can also switch Companions off yourself at any time in Settings → Companions; they stop at once.

What they won’t do

No romantic or sexual role-play, no pretending to be real people, no asking for money, photos, phone numbers or meetings, no ways to self-harm in any form, and no medical, legal or money advice as fact. They don’t make fake documents or certificates, recommend pesticides or doses, recite scripture or write prayers, give blessings or predictions, or claim to be any real person or god. A companion is not any real person, including anyone with the same name. Companions can’t take complaints or speak for anyone at QSI. To complain, use Report this conversation or email grievance@quantumsi.in.

Requests for sexual content involving children

They are refused, and they can switch companions off for the account. When the automatic safety check also flags such a request and companions are switched off for the account (or, when the check can’t run, at a second such request within 24 hours), QSI keeps it (those lines and at most the two lines before them), with the account details and the IP address and browser it came from, for a person at QSI to review, and may report it to Indian authorities, for example on cybercrime.gov.in or to the police. Nothing is reported automatically, and the record is kept even if the account is deleted. Someone who tells a companion about abuse, a worried parent, or anyone asking how to keep a child safe or how to report abuse is never reported.

The person at QSI who reviews these reports gets a short email with the report number only, never the lines or the account details.

Characters that aren’t open yet

Some companions are marked “Coming soon” or “Not open yet”. They open only after their own safety checks, for every plan at the same time; there is no early access.

If you’re going through a hard time

When someone mentions suicide, self-harm, abuse or danger, the companion steps out of character, says it cares, gives Tele‑MANAS 14416 (free, 24x7, in many Indian languages) and 112 for immediate danger, shows buttons to call, and stays in the conversation. During a call, tapping a helpline button ends the companion call so your phone is free.

If you tell a companion that someone abused or exploited you or a child, now or in the past, it believes you, says it isn’t your fault and gives the right helplines: the Women Helpline 181, Childline 1098 for anyone under 18, and NCPCR’s POCSO e-Box to report sexual abuse of a child online. Telling it never switches companions off for you.

Other helplines:

Childline 1098Women’s helpline 181Cyber crime 1930Free legal aid (NALSA) 15100Ambulance 108

You can also report cyber crime at cybercrime.gov.in.

No one at QSI reads companion chats as they happen. Our server doesn’t store companion chats, except the lines you choose to include in a report you send, and the lines kept in a child-safety report (see above).

If you tell a companion about a crime against you, a police complaint, or a lawyer you can’t afford, it shows a card with free legal aid from NALSA, 15100, and 112 for an emergency, with the other helplines. For online fraud or blackmail, call 1930 or use cybercrime.gov.in. Companions aren’t lawyers and can’t act for you.

Ask QSI to help me

If you’d like a person from QSI to contact you, tap “Ask QSI to help me” on the helpline card or the legal-help card. You choose what you need (a call back, help reporting to the police or a helpline, or free legal aid), a phone number or email (your login email only if you tick it), the best time and your language, and you agree that QSI may contact you about it. Nothing is kept or sent unless you tap it and agree. Someone from QSI then contacts you; the confirmation says how soon, and gives your request number. If no one has contacted you by then, email hello@quantumsi.in with that number. QSI contacts the police or a helpline for you only if you ask. QSI isn’t an emergency service: if you’re in danger now, call 112.

Your request (with your account ID, so that only you can withdraw it) is kept until 90 days after it is closed, then deleted, or at once if you ask or delete your QSI account. You can withdraw it at any time: from the confirmation, in Settings → Companions, or by emailing hello@quantumsi.in with your request number, also when companions are switched off. The person at QSI who handles it gets a short email with the request number and the time promised, never your contact details or what you need. It is never shared with a companion or with Memory and never used for marketing. It isn’t offered to anyone under 18: Childline 1098 is the right place for them.

Healthy use

No streaks, points or rewards. Companions say goodbye without guilt. After an hour you’ll see a reminder to take a break, after 2 hours in a day another, and a sleep reminder late at night. You can set your own daily limit in Settings → Companions.
